Description

The magnetic words are alright and being a fridge word building connoisseur I really liked the idea of this but for my liking they were a little bit too much on the small side, which made them hard to manipulate. Ransom Notes the ridiculous word magnet party game that sees players using word magnets to respond to outlandish prompts with their limited pool of words.

Ransom Notes - The Board Game Hut

However, if you are playing with particularly competitive people who will always vote for their own, even if it’s rubbish there are other suggested ways to choose a winner to avoid creating war not peace. In theory, you could play with younger kids, but even though the play is simple, it can be surprisingly mentally taxing (unless some inspiration jumps out at you), and I don’t think younger kids would have understood the point, or had fun with it. In a game that is the first to 5 points the bestie had 3, the husband and I were neck and neck with 4 each and he goes and uses suffer and -ing. BUT, if you do want to make it entirely family friendly, pulling about 20% of the Prompt Cards should make the game totally PG and playable for all! Each card also has six different words ranked by difficulty, so you can play with younger kids just by sticking to the easy words. If you have a large group, simply try teaming up — sometimes making terrible sentences with a partner is even funnier. Players respond to outlandish situations like “Tell someone you’ve clogged their toilet at a party” with just their limited pool of word magnets, leaving even master wordsmiths no choice but to create awesomely horrendous phrases. Overall, it’s very obvious that they tested this game thoroughly with lots of players, and crafted it well for real people to play.

The Ransomizer

Each round, the player judge picks a situation and players try to come up with the best answer from their pool of magnets. They even thought of details like reminding you to stick your word magnets to the side of the tray without a lip, so it will be easier to scrape them off into the pot when the round is over. So aside from potentially running out of word magnets and not having more displays to show your sentences on I’m sure you could play with a bigger player count than 6. So, we've upgraded our materials so the magnets come apart faster and easier when you first get the game.Ransom notes isn’t just a play a card, judge picks the winner party game — players are constantly engaged in creative, out-of-the-box thinking that will have you crying from laughing. I was so hoping when I saw the picture that this was a re-release of “Word Blur” which is also played with word magnets and is incredibly fun. I like deciding when I want to make a dirty joke, rather than getting buffaloed into it because we’re at a party and that’s how you have to act. Designed for 3-6 players, Ransom Notes is perfect for game night groups who want a game that’s as silly as it is clever.
