All books are interlinked so you’ll meet characters from other books and find hints to future or past books. That said, many books can be read as standalone.

How does a woman married twice remain a virgin? (Well I’m not telling you that!) Tired of being vulnerable, rejected and forever settling for scraps. She’s adamant about melting her new husband’s cold heart. Yet what she discovers is that sex is easy, but love is a completely different matter. And so you do not need to read my whole review which is rather long (sorry!) the main reason why I rate this book relatively low is that I just did not enjoy reading it, it was dragging for me. Plus it started when Dante was nineteen and ended when Dante's what forty-eight or nine? It covers a pretty long time and therefore it's very jumpy, a scene here and then a scene that takes place months/years later. It was tough to get into the story and hardly even felt like a story, more like notes on what was happening in the Outfit when the focus was on different characters.I LOVED Val! She was amazing!! Idk why people call her a doormat because she was one of the bravest women I know! I loved her strength, sacrifice. I love how she understood the pain Dante felt. Her patience, passion, how he let herself be weak and cry, loyalty were my favourite things about her. And oh momma! I love her sassy, bitchy side. Lol. Gianna and Matteo’s history just didn’t do it for me in Born in Hatred, and still continues to disappoint me in the Anthology. It seems like Matteo can’t ever get what he wishes for as long as Gianna doesn’t want it, however, Matteo has changed as much as possible for her. This continuation just yet again showed that Gianna is a selfish person- she realized that Matteo wanted the child yet kept it to herself because she didn’t at the time. This is your husband, despite every idiotic thing you have done, who continues to support you. However, Matteo has done so many sacrifices for her and allowed her to live somewhat of a lifestyle she wishes as possible in their world. *rolls eyes*. Gianna is +30yo in the story but acted like a 15yo. She will never be my favorite, and it isn’t just because she didn’t want children or bla bla - it was more about her never thinking of others feelings except herself. Every short story included follows the same recipe of being sweet and steamy while suggesting a happy ending and how each couple evolved to that point.

Matteo frowned. “I don’t know. Do you think you can see the child every day and have it call someone else Mom?”

Dante better tell Valentina that he loves her! I hope that we find out something suspicious about his previous wife that helps Dante get over her. It really bothers me that he is still hung up on her. This is why I hate widowers one books. I feel so guilty for supporting the heroine over the poor dead wife, so it makes me feel much better if the previous wife was terrible. Valentina, a woman with a loyal heart and a fiery passion. Her first husband who was her best friend who loved her like a sister was gone. Dead. Now she's marrying the youngest Head of the Outfit who seemed to lost the wife he loved most. She had to watch her first marriage go downhill but she's determined to make her second marriage work this time. What I particularly enjoyed and found highly entertaining about this amazing book was the innovative way Cora has decided to structure and write it. It's devided into five betrayals (from the past and present) Dante has perpatrated against the Outfit and the resulting consequences they had on his Mafia empire and his and his family's life. If you're a huge fan of this incredibly talented author like me you will have zero difficulties in guessing who those five women are that Dante has chosen over his vow, his men and the cause. A Capo may be the judge over life and death but he is also accountable for his actions. And as it's often the case a betrayal comes with secrets that could destroy everything you've been working for.
