Description

Brass is an excellent conductor of both heat and electricity, and is often found in electrical components. The unique properties of brass mean that it’s applied in various ways, predominantly within the mechanical and decorative industries. For instance, brass is often used in the following ways: It has excellent tensile strength, which is one of the reasons why Brass is so often used in the manufacture of fasteners & fixings. Brass flat bar is usually supplied in grade CZ12; this free machining alloy has 3% lead content dispersed throughout the strip to aid lubrication during machining.

With excellent corrosion resistance qualities, our brass strips also maintain strength in elevated and cryogenic temperatures. If you are looking for a durable, robust alloy product which offers an aesthetically pleasing finish, then our brass strips are ideal for a multitude of applications. You are then welcome to take advantage of our ever popular Free Cutting Service, which will allow you to request that your selected length is supplied cut down to the exact length required for your application. You can read more about our Cutting Service here. It has a high melting point of roughly 900°C; however, the exact melting point differs depending on the concentration of the various metals in the alloy. CZ121 brass flat bars are suitable for high-speed machining operations due to its superior machinability, thread rolling and knurling characteristics. Brasses are divided into two classes. The alpha alloys, with less than 37% Zinc, and the alpha/beta alloys with 37-45% Zinc. Alpha alloys are ductile and can be cold-worked. Alpha/beta or duplex alloys have limited cold ductility and are harder and stronger.

All brasses are alloys of zinc and copper and CZ121 is an alpha/beta alloy containing 37-45% zinc. To improve its machinability it also has a 3% lead content. This lead remains insoluble in the microstructure of the brass and these soft particles act as both a lubricant and as chip breakers. Using grade CZ108 metal, our brass sheet is highly workable on machines with a light feed and slow speed. Best of all, it can be used for a range of applications including both decorative and purely functional.

BRASS STRIP 1000MM

The alloys used to create brass products combine high machinability with considerable strength after forming. By adding zinc, brass flat bars have enhanced strength that makes them suitable for an extensive number of applications. All brasses are ductile and the lower the zinc content, the more ductile they are. CZ121 Brass Flat Bars Yes. It is actually one of the most malleable metals that can be used in the welding process. It can be welded to other metals to produce a strong and sturdy joint. All of our Brass Bars are supplied in Grade CZ121 aka CW614N. This is the free machining grade of brass. Its excellent machinability is achieved by the addition of approximately 3% lead into the materials composition. The lead aids lubrication and also acts as a chip breaker. An extensive range of applications Brass has many attributes which see it used in thousands of applications, many of which we encounter in our everyday lives. Choice Metals should be your first place to look for high quality metals. Brass is the most popular of the ‘yellow metals’ and is almost entirely made up of Copper mixed with various amounts of Zinc. For this reason, Brass is often referred to as a Copper Alloy.

Brass is a versatile alloy metal made by combining copper and zinc. It has a range of unique properties that make it highly valued for a range of different applications. By adjusting the proportion of copper and zinc, you can create brass products with different properties, making them suitable for different uses. Brass flat bars are often used widely for decorative purposes. The applications for brass flat bars include decorative trims, rails, handles, valves, bearings and fixings. As a metal, it has excellent corrosion resistance characteristics. This makes it highly valued in settings such as marine applications. Cobra Motor Paints – Why do you need Cobra Motor Paints? The cold working properties of brass is poor, but hot working and machinability are classed as excellent. Due to its bright gold colour, its ease of polishing and also its comparative low cost, brass bar is often cut and machined to produce items of jewellery.Grade CZ121 brass flat bars are not recommended for cold forming, although with the application of heat some bending will be possible. Diecast – Explore Our Range of Diecast Models At Scale Model Shop, we supply a wide range of diecast models, specialising in aircraft, cars, and tanks. Diecast models are a miniature replica made using a die casting or metal casting method. They are usually made of zinc or lead alloy and come fully formed in a single piece which portrays the vehicle in a smaller scale. Diecast models are much more than a simple toy, they demonstrate a higher level of quality than other plastic kits, due to the higher shelf life. This is great for any enthusiast collector as you can display for years and pass it down to the next generation. It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out or have been collecting for years, there is no denying how appealing a diecast model collection is.
