I want to mention all the folks that have helped along the way, and continue to as well! There’s a fairly hefty thanks and credits panel in the builder – everything from translations to supplying vector graphics and folks like AmalgamAsh and Always Board Never Boring for featuring the builder on YouTube too! Update 6/20/23: Re-upload of HQF latest video covering the flood of new photos from Zavvi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQHUHknJE4U Maybe this encounter want as difficult as I had initially thought after the first round. I’ll need to try it out a few more times and with different configurations of enemies. A trailer was also released via the Hasbro Pulse YouTube channel on July 14, 2023, which was narrated by HeroQuest designer Stephen Baker (playing the character Mentor).

This note wasn’t in the original publishing of this article. It’s been bothering me, and I felt like I needed to add it, so here it is: I reached out to Squidge to ask a little bit about his development process for hQuestBuilder, the origins of the project and some challenges faced. Here’s what Squidge had to say: The release of Rise of the Dread Moon expansion adventure set for HeroQuest was shared by Avalon Hill and Hasbro on their official social media channels. Overall, This is a very difficult monster to beat, and it gives Zargon a lot of power to troll the Heroes by hitting, then escaping just out of reach. I’ll be honest, that encounter was a bit exhausting.I also realized that because of the close quarters in the fairly small HeroQuest rooms, it’s actually a bit more difficult than I originally thought to get the full perk from adjacent monsters when casting Channel Dread. This tabletop game expansion comes with 29 detailed miniatures, including furniture, Elven Warriors, Dread Cultists, Specters, a Dread Wraith, and more two plastic "candy trays" holding the minis (similar types of plastics used in MOTM, with some furniture being of a different kind like the door bases; first appearance of transparent plastics) and cards: For the Dread Wraith, I’ve got an Air Elemental. The actual mini appears to take up 2 spaces, I’ll try to emulate this as best as possible, my Air Elemental takes up 4 spaces, similar to The Frozen Horror. The Dread Cultist will be subbed in for my Crimson Courtiers from Altar Quest. For the Assassin, I’ll be using the Cutpurse, also from Altar Quest. Playtest #1: Dread Wraith, Cultist, & Specters

Who could this new hero be? The speculation has begun. The consensus that I think most have agreed on so far, is that this is an alternate version of the Guardian Knight that was previously released in limited quantity.Speaking of a travelling merchant, we have Strangers. It’s possible that one of these Stranger tokens could be used as a merchant for the Underground Market in a Hideout. Strangers are described as “people who are not clearly friend or foe…”, this could mean anything. We’ll have to wait and see how this is used in the quests. Mercenaries & Reputation The Commander of the Guardian Knights– This makes sense because he’s featured on the front of the box Some of us were hoping for some range with this enemy, but I almost think this is better. We already have the archer to give us range, the Assassin fills in the gap for the close range and diagonals. Here, our group has interrupted some kind of Dread ritual, we have some Dread Cultists at a sorcerer table conjuring a Dread Wraith, I’m assuming that’s how the Wraiths will get into this plane of existence.

The cloud saving feature is very nice. I’ve played around with it for a bit, it’s really great for transferring quests between different devices. I’ve started making a quest on my desktop, then made some edits on my android phone, and finally made some finishing touches on my laptop, all with minimal effort.

This time, with no healing spells left, he breathes his last breath.First Youtube fan video unboxing has appeared (Thanks Frank!). It's in Italian and if you want to avoid spoilers (like, quest spoilers) stop the video around 3:00 minute mark, you have been warned! jump to the message where I link it. Thanks to Virg for pointing me in the right direction on this one. Update: My own spoilerific unboxing is here, with cheaper production values and shakier camera but more quest spoilers! The Dread Cultist relies on spells to supplement its abilities, specifically Dreadlights, and Channel Dread. Remember that with Channel Dread works best with other monsters who can also cast Channel Dread. This means I think it will be common to see large groups of Cultists, and have them paired up with Dread Wraiths and Specters. Dread Cultist Monster Card – Source: Reddit – vincezo1985 – Image Edited Assassin Personally I prefer my HeroQuest to be kept simple, but there is only so much that can be printed onto a card. This maybe was inevitable. Anyways, getting off topic a bit! I am now thoroughly convinced that, as HeroQuest Superfans, the Avalon Hill HeroQuest team are now just making their own homebrews official! Why wouldn’t they!? If I was a designer, working on HeroQuest, I would probably do that too! Yesterday the Prequel Quest "Knightfall" was posted online. This is the one that has all those sold out GenCon sessions. It is being recommended to play first, but as many have pointed out, it seems worded towards beginner players, and yet at the same time doesn't serve to fully equip a team of basic heroes for the beginning of ROTDM (which has a difficulty comparable to KK/ROTWL or Prophecy of Telor/Spirit Queen's Torment, at first glance).
